Harsh January (You Bet! )

A lot people ask how do you stand farming in Maine? Well I've been giving that a lot of thought and you really must love what you do. It can be pretty brutal here at times - last week we had
-20 and two days ago we had 14" of snow on top of what we already had.I always feel bad for the livestock - I know they're livestock but there part of the family especially the Lil ones! Water buckets freeze and so does everything else, even the Angora Rabbits shiver! We have a total of 25 Nigerian Goats, 12 Chickens, 5 Angora Rabbits, Cats and a Dog - I always feel like saying " And a partridge in a pear tree"

It can be a rough winter but we have the most beautiful seasons here - what saves your sanity is knowing that Spring will arrive and you know you won't have to worry about firewood or shoveling or even carrying hot water to the barn " Ya see all will be well! "
